Parish Update 18.05.20

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ”
1 Peter 1:6-7

As we all cope differently in this time of Covid-19 I wonder where we our putting our hope, faith, love and strength? During this time, in my own times of worship there are certain lyrics that are helping me focus in my relationship with God and whom he has called me to be. The chorus of one of these songs is as follows :

May your strength give us strength
May your faith give us faith
May your hope give us hope
May your love give us love

These words are from the song “Into the Fire” by Bruce Springsteen. It can feel like we are walking through fire in this time as look at what is being stripped away from our normal daily routines. The verse from 1 Peter reminds us to bring our focus to Jesus in all things. The question is also asked “What is church?” All of us have been experiencing “church” differently over these past few months. Church is no longer the focus of one morning in a particular building, but has become the focus over every day in our interactions with one another. This is how church has always meant to be, not just a one morning a week gathering, but a daily influence in all our lives and with those whom we connect with. As we continue to look outside the box, pray the above lyrics as you seek God during this time.

As we will see over the next number of weeks as we hopefully go through the phases that the government has set up, we will be looking at a roadmap for us in Kill to meet together safely under the guidelines that will be followed for everyones health and protection.
